The final regular-season weekend brings Loudoun Valley at Woodgrove, a meeting of Region 4C’s first two teams, and George Washington at Magna Vista, a matchup of unbeaten teams in the local rankings. Huguenot at Manchester pairs two 8–1 teams, while Thomas Dale at Hopewell gives an unbeaten Class 6 contender one more demanding road test.

This final edition covers November 5–7, including Thursday’s games ahead of the November 6–7 weekend. Records, points and ranks are frozen to the November 2 Week 10 Beyond the Standings rankings. These rankings are distinct from official VHSL playoff points and seeds; the comparisons below make no claims about clinching or seeding scenarios.

The games at the top of my list

All seven featured games are scheduled for Friday, November 6, at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Each rank refers to that team’s own class or region. Scoring averages describe results against different schedules, not predicted scores.

Game to watch / 1The first two in Region 4C

Loudoun Valley at Woodgrove: the first two in region 4c

Loudoun Valley (9–0) at Woodgrove (8–1) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 4 #6 / Class 4 #4. Region ranks: 4C #2 / 4C #1.

Loudoun Valley has the unbeaten record; Woodgrove has the higher ranking. The Vikings are 9–0 in this snapshot, while the Wolverines have one loss and lead Region 4C. With both in Class 4’s top six, this is the clearest direct regional comparison on the final-week slate.

Both have allowed exactly 113 points through nine games. Woodgrove has scored 417 against Loudoun Valley’s 371, so the larger offensive output belongs to the home team. Can Valley keep this near its defensive average of 12.6 allowed per game, or will Woodgrove make its scoring advantage count? A shared region, comparable records and identical defensive totals give this matchup plenty of substance.

Schedule: Woodgrove’s school broadcast listing, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 2Two unbeaten teams, different classifications

George Washington at Magna Vista: two unbeaten teams, different classifications

George Washington (8–0) at Magna Vista (9–0) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 4 #11 / Class 3 #7. Region ranks: 4D #5 / 3D #2.

The local snapshot gives George Washington eight wins and Magna Vista nine, with neither carrying a loss. Magna Vista is second in Region 3D and seventh in Class 3; George Washington is fifth in Region 4D and eleventh in Class 4. Equal success in the win column does not make their schedules interchangeable, but it makes this a fitting finale.

Magna Vista has scored 412 points and allowed 69 in nine games, averaging 45.8 scored and 7.7 allowed. George Washington has scored 319 and allowed 112 in eight, or 39.9 and 14.0 per game. The visitor needs to find scoring opportunities against the smaller defensive total. Magna Vista can test its strong two-way profile against an opponent that has also avoided defeat in the frozen data.

Schedule: game listing, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 3Matching records, powerful offenses

Huguenot at Manchester: matching records, powerful offenses

Huguenot (8–1) at Manchester (8–1) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 4 #3 / Class 6 #7. Region ranks: 4B #2 / 6A #3.

Huguenot and Manchester are both 8–1. Huguenot stands third in Class 4 and second in Region 4B; Manchester is seventh in Class 6 and third in Region 6A. Their class ranks describe different comparison groups, but each arrives with a strong record and a place near the top of its region.

Huguenot has scored 431 points and allowed 68. Manchester has scored 326 and allowed 108 over the same nine-game span. That gives Huguenot the stronger raw scoring profile on both sides. Manchester’s task is to turn home field into a competitive setting for an offense averaging 36.2 points, while keeping a visiting attack averaging 47.9 from dictating the pace.

Schedule: Huguenot football’s schedule guide, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 4One last test for an unbeaten visitor

Thomas Dale at Hopewell: one last test for an unbeaten visitor

Thomas Dale (9–0) at Hopewell (7–2) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 6 #2 / Class 3 #4. Region ranks: 6A #1 / 3A #2.

Thomas Dale leads Region 6A and sits second in Class 6 at 9–0. Hopewell is 7–2, fourth in Class 3 and second in Region 3A. A road game against another highly ranked team makes this a meaningful final examination for the Knights’ unbeaten record.

Thomas Dale has allowed only 60 points in nine games, an average of 6.7. Hopewell has scored 318, averaging 35.3. That is the central contest: can Hopewell keep producing against a defense that has surrendered so little? Thomas Dale has scored 243 points itself, exactly 27.0 per game, so it does not need the same scoring pace as Hopewell to make its season profile work.

Schedule: game listing, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 5Another strong Region 6D comparison

South Lakes at Westfield: another strong region 6d comparison

South Lakes (8–1) at Westfield (7–2) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 6 #4 / Class 6 #11. Region ranks: 6D #2 / 6D #4.

South Lakes is second in Region 6D and fourth in Class 6 at 8–1. Westfield is fourth in the region and eleventh in the class at 7–2. Both have winning records against the schedules reflected in the snapshot, and Westfield gets the chance to challenge the higher-ranked team at home.

The scoring totals are fairly close: South Lakes has 318 points to Westfield’s 292. The defensive gap is wider, with South Lakes allowing 136 and Westfield 206 across nine games each. Westfield needs to narrow that difference on Friday. South Lakes will look to keep the game near its usual defensive pace rather than relying on a small edge in offensive production.

Schedule: Fairfax County Public Schools’ Westfield calendar, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 6Class 2’s leader visits a Class 4 contender

Poquoson at Smithfield: class 2’s leader visits a class 4 contender

Poquoson (7–1) at Smithfield (7–2) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 2 #1 / Class 4 #13. Region ranks: 2A #1 / 4A #2.

Poquoson leads Class 2 and Region 2A at 7–1. Smithfield is 7–2, thirteenth in Class 4 and second in Region 4A. The visiting team carries the more prominent class rank, but Smithfield’s record and regional position make this much more than a routine finale.

The defenses have almost identical per-game figures: Poquoson has allowed 85 points in eight games, or 10.6, while Smithfield has allowed 95 in nine, also 10.6 after rounding. Poquoson averages 35.1 points scored; Smithfield averages 32.4. Those close rates make a sustained scoring drive valuable, though they describe past schedules rather than forecast Friday’s margin.

Schedule: game listing, checked November 5.

Game to watch / 7Matching records in Region 2D

Ridgeview at Gate City: matching records in region 2d

Ridgeview (7–2) at Gate City (7–2) — Friday, 7 p.m. Class ranks: Class 2 #13 / Class 2 #4. Region ranks: 2D #4 / 2D #1.

Both teams are 7–2, but Gate City leads Region 2D and ranks fourth in Class 2. Ridgeview is fourth in the region and thirteenth in the class. This gives the visitor a direct opportunity to test that ranking gap against the regional leader.

Ridgeview has the better raw totals: 351 points scored and 112 allowed, compared with Gate City’s 328 and 129. The higher-ranked team therefore does not own every statistical advantage. I’m watching whether Gate City can justify its ranking on the field against a visitor with a slightly stronger scoring differential. Both schools’ ticket pages identify Gate City as the host; contrary listings are discussed below.

Schedule: Gate City’s school ticket page, checked November 5.

Sources and schedule notes

Statistical cutoff: matching Week 10 class and region rankings, November 2, 2026, at 5:04:32 p.m.: class rankings and region rankings. These are Beyond the Standings rankings, not official VHSL playoff points or seeds. The linked pages may change; this post’s records, points and ranks stay frozen. Per-game averages divide points by wins, losses and ties combined. Some outside records differ—for example, current listings show George Washington at 9–0 while the local snapshot has 8–0. No outside result has been silently added to the frozen statistics.

Schedule baseline: the VHSL master schedule, still dated September 23, was rechecked from the VHSL football page on November 5. Reciprocal team entries were checked, then compared with the current Friday schedule, individual game listings and school sources. School corroboration includes Loudoun Valley’s ticket schedule, Westfield’s FCPS calendar, Huguenot’s program schedule, Lafayette’s Thursday ticket listing and Gloucester’s school broadcast schedule. The master supplies the baseline where a fresh school announcement could not be retrieved.

† Thomas Jefferson–Hermitage venue conflict: the master and Hermitage’s school broadcast listing put the game at Hermitage, Friday at 7 p.m. The current Hermitage team page reverses the venue. The tables retain the master/broadcast location and explicitly flag the conflict; confirm the host with the schools before traveling.

Ridgeview–Gate City: Gate City’s ticket page and Ridgeview’s ticket page both place Friday’s 7 p.m. game at Gate City, matching the master. A secondary schedule reverses that location; the school ticket sources take precedence here.

Buffalo Gap’s bye: the master explicitly lists a bye. The News Leader’s October 30 report confirms an open November 6 date after Buffalo Gap finished its regular season. An NFHS listing instead repeats Buffalo Gap–Stuarts Draft on November 6. Stuarts Draft’s school ticket schedule names Wilson Memorial that night, supporting the bye and the opponent used here. Cave Spring and Green Run also have explicit master-schedule byes; Green Run’s current off-week report corroborates its entry.

Chincoteague: the school calendar moved its October 29 game to November 2. Its November 7 listing is labeled a playoff game. Chincoteague remains in the table at the local snapshot’s 3–4 record, but neither that postseason game nor the already completed November 2 game is previewed. This is not a bye designation.

Names were reconciled across sources, including Kings Fork/King’s Fork, Lunenburg Central/Central (Lunenburg), Cox/Frank Cox, Freeman/Douglas Freeman and Booker T. Washington/B. T. Washington. Heritage, Liberty, Patrick Henry and James River schools retain location qualifiers. All times are Eastern Standard Time for this week; raw midnight UTC listings correspond to the preceding evening in Virginia. Check school announcements for late changes.
