The undefeated list was cut in half this week. We started with six schools after Week 7, and three took their first loss in Week 8.

That leaves three undefeated schools as of October 25, 2026: Miami, UCLA and Utah, all 7–0. These records come from my Week 8 FBS rankings.

BYU, James Madison and Texas Tech drop off the list. UCLA kept its place by beating Michigan State 28–10, while Utah beat Houston 21–13. Miami remains No. 1 in my power ratings, with UCLA ninth and Utah eleventh.

The remaining undefeated schools

All three schools are 7–0 and are listed alphabetically. Each next opponent links to an official schedule source, checked October 27. “At” indicates a road game; “vs.” indicates a home game. Team and opponent records are through Week 8, as of October 25. Dates are in 2026.

School Record Next opponent Date
Miami (FL) 7–0 at North Carolina (4–3) Oct. 31
UCLA 7–0 vs. Nevada (3–4) Oct. 31
Utah 7–0 at Cincinnati (5–2) Oct. 31

None of the three has a bye this week. All play on Saturday, October 31, with Miami and Utah on the road and UCLA at home. No matchup pairs two unbeaten teams.

Dropping off the list

These three schools were unbeaten last week and now have one loss.

School Record
BYU 6–1
James Madison 7–1
Texas Tech 6–1

Following the list each week

Going into Week 9, just three schools still have a zero in the loss column. Utah faces the opponent with the best record among this week’s three matchups: Cincinnati at 5–2. Miami heads to North Carolina, while UCLA gets a third straight home game. All three can make it through the week unbeaten, but last week was a reminder of how quickly this list can shrink. Let’s see who reaches November without a loss.
