The undefeated list keeps getting shorter. We started with 22 schools after Week 4, and seven took their first loss in Week 5.

That leaves 15 undefeated schools as of October 4, 2026. Of those, 10 are 5–0, and five are 4–0. These records come from my Week 5 FBS rankings.

Alabama and Pittsburgh survived last week’s two matchups between unbeaten schools. Mississippi State and Virginia Tech drop off the list, along with Cincinnati, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts and South Florida.

Following the list each week

Going into Week 6, 15 schools still have a zero in the loss column. With Georgia playing Alabama and Indiana playing Nebraska, at least two will take their first loss this week. Texas also returns from its bye to face Oklahoma in Dallas, while UCLA heads to Oregon. Let’s see how many make it through Week 6.
